Happy Halloween in Ocean Falls

Halloween has been a little different for us this year.  With Wee Man being the only child in town not many people (us included) had planed on much for Halloween.  I had figured we would do a few activities that were Halloween oriented and then just hang out as a family.  As the holiday approached though our plans changed.  People wanted Wee Man to come around, and well I got a little into the spirit of things and wanted to have as close to a mainstream holiday for him as we could here.  That being said we started our own traditions here, and found that the fairies had left Wee Man a Halloween present at the Fairy Rock, and we didn’t just Trick-or-Treat, we took our friends and neighbors a Halloween Treat as well.

We started our Halloween activities earlier in the week with the Pumpkin Shaving.  We had done this activity last year at Strong Start and Wee Man really liked it so I thought I would give it a shot again this year.  As you can see it went over really well, and was super simple to put together.  I put the Pumpkin in his pool from the summer (which had deflated a bit and I forgot to blow up again!) to contain the mess, covered the it in shaving foam from the Dollar Store, and let him go!  As he was starting to loose interest with just using his hands I introduced a Popsicle stick to use as his ‘razor’.  This added a whole new element of fun and interest.  Today the fun started after his nap.  He got to have a Ghost Brownie for his snack, and then we made a ghost family.  He had so much fun with the googley eyes that the Daddy and Wee Man ghost got extra!  Then when Daddy got home from work we carved our alien pumpkin, and roasted the seeds.  We then did a bit of Trick-or-Treating, and went out to the Fairy Rock and found a special Halloween present left there for Wee Man.  It was a fun and busy day.  It was so much fun to watch as the day progressed and Wee Man started linking all of these new concepts together.  We even got a Trick-or-Treat out of him once!  I hope you all have had a wonderful Halloween full of frights and fun.

With Love,
